Plans, billing, and trials
PeakBooks has three plans — Starter, Standard, and Pro — billed monthly or annually (save with annual). Every signup gets a 7-day free trial with full feature access. Billing runs through Stripe; you can self-serve every change.
How the 7-day free trial works
- Every new account gets 7 days free at signup. No credit card is required to start.
- During the trial you have full access to every feature on every plan — Plaid sync, AI categorization, invoices, bills, accountant access, all of it.
- A banner at the top of the app shows how many days you have left. When you're ready, click Upgrade in the banner or under Settings › Billing.
- At day 7 without an active subscription, write access is paused — you can still log in and read your books, but new transactions, edits, invoices, and uploads are blocked until you pick a plan.
Picking a plan
The current plan comparison is on the pricing page. In short:
- Starter — for very small businesses with a single bank account and minimal invoicing. Bills/AP are not included on Starter.
- Standard — most small businesses fit here. Multiple accounts, invoicing, bills, accountant access, monthly transaction and invoice caps that work for most operating businesses.
- Pro — for higher-volume businesses and accounting firms. Unlimited transactions and invoices, multiple businesses under one login, priority support.
Annual billing knocks roughly two months off the price compared to monthly — same features, billed once a year.
Upgrade or change your plan
- Go to Settings › Billing.
- Click Change plan. You'll be sent to the Stripe billing portal in a new tab.
- Pick the new plan and confirm. Upgrades take effect immediately — you get the new features right away, and Stripe prorates the difference on your next invoice. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period.
Updating your payment method
From Settings › Billing, click Manage billing to open the Stripe portal. From there you can update the card on file, change the billing email, download past invoices, and see upcoming charges.
Canceling
- Go to Settings › Billing and click Manage billing.
- In the Stripe portal, choose Cancel subscription. Confirm.
- Your access continues until the end of the current billing period — you don't lose the time you've paid for.
After the period ends, the account flips to read-only (you can still log in and view your books, but writes are blocked). Re-subscribe any time and full access comes back.
Refunds
We don't auto-refund partial periods on cancel — your existing time stays active until the period ends. If something specific went wrong (e.g., billed twice, charged after we said we'd stop, technical outage that broke the app for an extended period), email support and we'll make it right.
